Why convert PNG to PDF?

PDF is the universal document format. Every operating system, every browser, every printer, every email client and every cloud-storage service handles PDFs natively. PNGs sometimes don't — they show up as files needing a separate viewer, can be flagged by image-blocking spam filters, or get auto-converted to JPG by chat apps. Converting PNG to PDF is the simplest way to make an image act like a document — for emailing, attaching to job applications, archiving scanned receipts, building portfolios or sending invoices.

Bundling several PNG screenshots or photos into one PDF is even more useful — instead of attaching seven separate images to an email, attach one PDF that contains all seven, in order, on the right paper size.

How this converter works

The browser loads each PNG, sizes it onto your chosen PDF page (with the chosen margin), and assembles the result into a real PDF binary using the open-source jsPDF library. The PDF is then offered for download. Nothing is uploaded.

Each image becomes one PDF page. Pages are added in the order you uploaded the files. Images are fit to the page proportionally (no stretching) — so a portrait photo on a portrait A4 page fills the height, and a landscape photo on a portrait page fills the width with white space above and below.

Page size — what to choose

• A4 — the international standard. 210 × 297 mm. Use for documents intended to be read or printed anywhere outside North America.
• US Letter — the North American standard. 8.5 × 11 inches. Use for US/Canada-bound documents.
• US Legal — 8.5 × 14 inches. North American legal documents and long forms.
• A3 — 297 × 420 mm. Double-A4. Use for posters, large diagrams or images you want big on screen.
• A5 — 148 × 210 mm. Half-A4. Use for booklets, flyers, half-page handouts.
• Fit to image — each PDF page is sized exactly to match its source PNG's aspect ratio. Use when you want zero white space around the image.

Portrait vs. landscape

Portrait pages are taller than they are wide; landscape pages are wider than tall. Pick the orientation that matches the majority of your images for the cleanest result. If you have a mix, A4 portrait usually accommodates both with reasonable white space.

Margin

Margin is the white border on each side of the page that the image cannot touch. A 10 mm margin (default) gives a clean, document-like look. Set it to 0 for an edge-to-edge image (good for photo books or visual content). Set it to 20–30 mm if the PDF will be printed and you want a generous safe-zone around the content.

Tips and best practice

• Compress your PNGs first. A 5 MB PNG becomes a 5 MB PDF page — file sizes add up fast. Run them through the PNG Compressor for smaller results.
• Mix portrait and landscape carefully. Mixed orientation in a single PDF can look messy; if you have very mixed sources, consider building two PDFs.
• Use "Fit to image" for photo-only PDFs — no margin, no white space, just the photos.
• For OCR-friendly scanned documents, the source PNGs should already be high-contrast and ideally pre-thresholded with the PNG Threshold tool.
• The order matters: pages appear in the order you uploaded the files. Drag in groups if you need specific ordering.
